Challenge
Both a small startup and an established therapeutics company faced the same challenge: obtaining high-quality custom omics analysis, quickly and efficiently. The startup, with limited internal resources, found that the costly, generic reports from their sequencing CRO failed to address their specific biological questions. At the larger company, the head of computational biology had a customized RNA-Seq analysis workflow, but it was manual and time-consuming, creating bottlenecks and diverting his attention from more strategic tasks. Both companies needed more efficient bioinformatics solutions to accelerate decision-making and alleviate internal bottlenecks.
Action
Diamond Age (DA) partnered with both clients to develop tailored solutions. For the smaller company, DA created a modular, flexible template customized to their specific assay types, experimental setups, and biological questions. This evolving system, which includes tables, visualizations, and sub-analyses, delivers faster, more cost-effective analyses compared to traditional CRO services. For the larger client, DA transformed their manual RNA-Seq scripts into an automated, user-friendly system with built-in analyst checkpoints. DA also upgraded the infrastructure to enhance performance and cut compute costs. The new pipeline can easily be run by the client’s team if needed.
Result
Both clients saw significant improvements in their bioinformatics workflows through DA’s customized solutions. For the smaller startup, we delivered an agile, lightweight solution that provided faster, more affordable analysis, with a flexible template that adapts as their needs evolve. For the larger company, we implemented a more robust and sophisticated workflow, drastically reducing RNA-Seq turnaround time from weeks to days. This eliminated bottlenecks and enabled quicker scientific decision-making. Additionally, the optimized infrastructure saved on compute costs and avoided the need for additional staff. In both cases, our tailored approach streamlined workflows, enabling each client to focus on innovation and advancing their therapeutic programs.
